Both libraries feature innovative experiential reading spaces, including a digital experience zone, a science and technology innovation space, a music staircase, a capsule bookstore, the Big Dipper Book Island, and a music appreciation room. They also boast specialty galleries such as the "Guizhou People's Book Garden," the "Yangming Book Pavilion," the "Colorful Guizhou Humanities Museum," the "Guizhou Edition Library," and the "Long March Documents Theme Library." Equipped with state-of-the-art intelligent 3D libraries and large-scale smart bookshelves, the libraries innovatively employ a "3D library + smart bookshelf system" lending service model, offering province-wide document lending services through a third-party online credit lending platform. Furthermore, the Guizhou Digital Library utilizes an "IP + account" model to provide free digital resource services province-wide, achieving intelligent and equitable coverage of public cultural services.
To enhance the effectiveness of public cultural services, the Guizhou Provincial Library has established over 50 circulation points and 42 bookstores, and continues to support the development of rural bookstores, building a comprehensive knowledge service network covering both urban and rural areas. The library also proactively collaborates with libraries of all levels and types across the province, as well as museums, intangible cultural heritage centers, universities, primary and secondary schools, the Disabled Persons' Federation, and other sectors of society to conduct over a thousand reading promotion activities annually for the general public. This effectively bridges the "last mile" of public cultural services, allowing the fragrance of books to permeate every corner of urban and rural life, and injecting lasting momentum into building a "Book-Rich Guizhou" and promoting the implementation of the strategy of strengthening the province through culture.
By the end of 2024, the library's total collection reached 4.28 million volumes. Among them, nearly 120,000 ancient books, 12 of which were included in the first to sixth batches of the "National List of Precious Ancient Books." Classical military works printed during the Ming and early Qing dynasties, such as "Huangshi Gongsu Shu," "Newly Carved and Annotated Large-Character Baishi Fengjian," and "Newly Carved Wuxue Jingshi Dacheng," are among the only copies in China. The library provides nearly 800TB of digital resources (including libraries and mirrors), including over 3.68 million e-books and 40,000 e-journals. It also boasts over 50 commercially available databases and over 50 proprietary libraries, including a full-text database of Guizhou local documents, a special resource library on Shui ethnic history and culture, and a video database of Guizhou's local cultural characteristics.
In 2023, it was designated a "National First-Class Library" by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. It has also been designated a Guizhou Provincial Anti-Corruption Culture Education Base and a Science Popularization Education Base, empowering the development of social spiritual civilization through its diverse cultural platform.
